Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres such as Modern, Lyrical, Jazz and Ballet.

This popular dance style strives to connect mind and body through fluid, Somatic dance movement.

Contemporary

Focusing on both abstract and lyrical Contemporary dance practice- students will explore Contemporary techniques and fundamentals. Through historical dance appreciation, Release, Contact and Partnering work, Limon`, Graham and a host of other influential approaches to this popular art form the students will expand their creative and versatility in all dance areas.

Students will learn practical dance skills in line with the UKA Contemporary dance syllabus and will develop performance aptitude through shows, fundraisers, assessment s and examinations. There will also be an opportunity to gain recognition and greater understanding in Choreography and Theory in Contemporary components in this subject.
